Football is the most popular sport in the country, so even some of you reading this article will likely be getting behind your team or looking forward to the Super Bowl in February. The NFL looms large over just about every part of American life, so there really isn’t any escape.

Watching the game at home is so much easier if you are not a die-hard fan. There is no need to concentrate solely on what is happening on the field and you can even think more about what you are drinking and eating, especially if you are hosting your friends. Your game day uniform will depend on what you like to wear around the house.

Comfortable clothing is obviously best, as long as your get-together is not too formal. But you can make a little bit of an effort to get into the spirit of the occasion by wearing some kind of apparel. If your introduction to the NFL and football is because of your devotion to Taylor Swift then you may need some extra help trying to fit in with the football crowd when you don’t have the luxury of watching the game in the executive boxes with Taylor and her friends. The Taylor Swift football look is surprisingly easy to emulate. Go with a baggy sweatshirt, either with the team’s name or logo on – or a suitably humorous image – alongside jeans or even sweats. Comfort is key here, once again. Top it all off with a beanie hat with optional bobble to really show your newfound allegiance.

Sportswear – Yes or No?

From the recommendations so far, you will probably have already worked out the answer to this one. But that does not mean that you have to drape yourself head to toe in team apparel. A subtler look is the way to go here and you can leave the elaborate and eccentric outfits to the fans in the front row behind the touchdown zones.

The weather in your location will really decide what kind of team wear you can go for. But mix a team jersey or sweatshirt with jeans and you can’t really go wrong. This is where you really get to stamp your own personality on your football-watching look. The whole point of football fandom is that you show you are part of something along with the team. That means wearing the colors and not really standing out from the crowd. But accessories can give you a little piece of individualism.

Sunglasses are an obvious choice here – and we don’t care what weather conditions you are wearing them in. (maybe apart from driving rain). Jewelry is another option here but you don’t really want to get too glammed up for a football game that is going to last the rest of the afternoon. Take one for the team here and go light with the accessories.

Unfortunately, most of the other fans won’t even notice and you will get more of a reaction if you wear something with the team’s logo on rather than one from a respected fashion house.
